Hello friends!

I’ll bet you just can’t wait until lunchtime. I know how you feel. Your taste buds are tingling with thoughts of spicy Tandoori chicken or crispy egg rolls and dipping sauce. Will you feast on the shiitake & tomato pizza, delight in a smoky pulled pork sandwich or cool off with a veggie sushi wrap or luscious raw salad? And there are fresh greens, beets, broccoli, cauliflower, candied pecans and cookies, too. I know, I know…sensory overload! I’ll give you a minute…

Saturday morning will be popping up its lovely head once again and you’ll have to RESIST the urge to sleep in or you’ll miss the delightful sounds of the Pot Luck String Band. Foot tappin’ music, biscotti for dippin’, fresh coffee for sippin’, food to be tastin’…who can sleep at a time like this? Come celebrate Cinco de Mayo with us and Chef Joel Brown, of Winos and Tacos restaurant in Covington.

Stop by Spanish R Us for some spicy additions to any Cinco de Mayo celebration (even though they’re Honduran, I’m sure their dishes will satisfy). You can also pick up tamales from Hot Tamale Mama – you won’t find veggie tamales like them anywhere!

Well, it’s the beginning of May and that means we may see the Bardwells back at the market. That always seems to be a turning point toward the summer crop. Soon we’ll see sweet peppers on our vendors’ tables… and tomatoes…and yellow squash, zucchini, potatoes, eggplant, some of those lovely, long, green guguzzas. Those veggies may still be a few weeks away but just the promise of them gets your mouth to watering! Regardless, there is still a large selection of delicious veggies available – spinach, Swiss chard, beets, radishes, collards, kale, broccoli, lettuces, mizuna, arugula… Oh! You’ll need a great dressing for your salad greens. Thank goodness Gina (Bechac’s dressing) will be back this week!

We’ve got your honey. We’ve got your eggs. We’ve got your coffee, cookies, cheese, plants, and popsicles. There’s always a lot to see, taste, and enjoy.  Come by and spend the morning with us. You can sleep on Sunday.
Lots of love,
Charlene LeJeune
