Hi, friends and happy Tuesday! We’ve got a simply beautiful day planned for tomorrow with plenty of sunshine and blue skies so be sure to get out to the Market to enjoy it.
It won’t be really cold tomorrow but it may be a bit “chili” – Chomper’s chili, that is, and a nice piece of cornbread. A cup of Nanette’s heartwarming soup will put a spring in your step and a song in your heart and I’m for anything that will put a little spring anywhere at this time of year. Treat yourself to a plate of Kandi’s shrimp and cream cheese rolls or a whopping fat muff from Nuccios (half or whole). You will not be disappointed. I enjoy a lot of the foods served at the Wednesday Market but I really can’t enjoy all of these delicious meals in one day. My fix is to bring some home. That way Mr. Wonderful can enjoy the market as well. He’s such a sweetie, I might even buy him one of Frankie’s pies. Oh! What the heck! I’ll get him two; he may want to share.
Come Saturday morning there will be (hopefully) milder temperatures (is it spring yet?) Sweet Jones will delight us with tunes from the gazebo beginning at 9:30. So settle in with a fresh cup of coffee and visit with vendors while you await Eric Acquistapace, of Acquistapace’s Covington Supermarket. He will be serving samples of his amazing Cajun Fried Turkey. You may want to order one; it’s the perfect solution to the harried rush of cooking at Thanksgiving which will be here before you know it (like next week!)
Move over Coca-Cola! The Kombucha Girls have a special treat this week – Living Sodas! Buy it by the glass with your choice of Satsuma-Cranberry or Maple-Double Vanilla Pear Living Blends. You choose your flavor and they mix them with sparkling mineral water for a healthy “live” soda of probiotics, prebiotics, enzymes, organic acids, and B vitamins.
Enten Farms’ duck eggs add incredible richness and fluffiness to cakes and cookies. It’s not just eggs they have but whole ducks too and Meaux’s incredible mustards! Meaux mustard is perfect on a sandwich so you may need to pick up a loaf from Windfield Farms or 7Grain. Check out Bear Creek Road’s caramelized onion and roasted garlic focaccia bread or the chocolate bourbon pecan pies. Thanksgiving will never be the same!
Spanish R Us has added pickled cucumbers (delish), refried beans (double delish), and guacamole (even more delish) to their line up! And there’s more, much more at the Covington Farmers’ Market – raw honey, gourmet coffee, luscious, creamy, delectable desserts…what will you discover?
Lots of love,
Abundant Life Kitchen
