KCB Great American Clean Up New Report

KCB Great American Clean Up New Report

Keep Covington Beautiful held a Great American Cleanup event on February 24, 2017, at the Blue Swamp Creek Nature Trail located at the Covington Recreation Complex.  Faculty members from St. Paul’s School volunteered their time as part of their Faculty Service Day.  Working with hand tools, they removed almost 1200 cubic feet of woody plant material from an area of about .5 acres.
Thank you all for your help with this project! The area had recently undergone a controlled burn as part of Keep Covington Beautiful’s Pine Savanna Restoration Project at the Nature Trail.  Removal of this plant material will open up the area to sunlight and allow the native wildflowers and grasses present there to grow.  KCB will add other native plants to the area as well as new signage explaining the overall project.  Funding for the signage is part of a 2016-2017 Healthy Communities Grant that KCB received from Keep Louisiana Beautiful.
KCB is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the beautification of  Covington. Contact them at 985-867-3652 or email keepcovbeautiful@gmail.com. Forms and additional information are available on their website, keepcovingtonbeautiful.org.  Follow KCB on Facebook.
