Meet the Covington Police Department

In an effort to introduce our local police officers to the community and provide an opportunity for the CPD to highlight their outstanding officers, Covington Weekly profiles are provided by Chief Tim Lentz of the Covington Police Department.

Lt. Joseph Mayberry is a 22 year employee with the Covington Police Department.  He is currently assigned to Patrol division where he supervises a patrol shift.  Lt. Mayberry is a lifelong resident of the Northshore and currently lives inside the city limits of Covington.  Lt. Mayberry recently married Claire Lockett on Sept 24th of last year, and his 15 year old son at St. Paul’s School is actively involved in the baseball and band programs.  Lt. Mayberry graduated from Covington High School in 1990.  He then attended Southeastern University in Hammond for two years.

Mayberry recently graduated from the FBI National Academy, section 266 in December 2016.  In 2012, Lt. Mayberry received the Medal of Valor for his rescue actions during a house fire.  In 2002, Lt. Mayberry received the police office of the year award from Rotary, Kiwanis, and Exchange Clubs.  He also received a lifesaving award in 2012 and a distinguished service award in 2002.
