Lane Reconfiguration Delayed

Due to the rain expected this week from Tropical Storm Cindy, the City of Covington announced the Lane Reconfiguration at the LA 21 Widening is rescheduled to begin Sunday, June 25, at 8 p.m.

There will be a new lane configuration beginning June 25, 2017, on LA 21 in Covington. Traffic on both northbound and southbound LA 21 will be routed to the outside lane, with the inside lanes closed for removal of the temporary medians and installation of the permanent ones, weather permitting. All traffic signals will be operational along with J turns. Once this median work is completed, all lanes will be open.

City of Covington Open House Postponed

The Covington Traffic Calming & Connectivity Plan Open House scheduled for Tuesday, June 20 is rescheduled due to the weather. Covington is working on a plan to calm traffic on Boston Street and make it easier for people to walk and ride bikes downtown. This meeting is a chance for the public to view the Draft Recommendations at the City Council Chambers, 222 Kirkland Street.
City Consultants will have draft recommendations for improvements to share with residents and will be available to answer questions. This is the last opportunity to weigh in before recommendations are finalized. At the time of this writing, there is no rescheduled date, but we will keep information posted about the new date.
