The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Covington Police Department will both participate in the National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, October 17, 2017.
National Night Out Against Crime is a nation-wide crime prevention event. Traditionally, the event is held during the month of August, but due to the extreme heat, some areas have moved the date to the month of October. The night is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, help increase neighborhood support in anti-crime efforts, and unite our communities. It is a great chance to learn about crime prevention, while also celebrating your community and spending time with your neighbors and local law enforcement.
Join local law enforcement agencies to strengthen our community by talking to one another and paying attention to our neighborhoods. Everyone has a part to play in ensuring that our children have a safe environment to grow up in and that our elders are cared for in a proper manner.
Community policing is a strategy of policing that focuses on community relationship building between neighborhoods and local law enforcement in a constructive manner.
