Covington Art Market This Saturday

Please join STAA for the Covington Art Market in its new location, Art Alley, in the 300 block of N Columbia St. in downtown Covington. The event, which will include a showcase of local artists, saxophone music and children’s art workshop, will take place Saturday, Nov. 4, 9 am to 1 pm. Admission is free.
November artists will feature a variety of offerings including pottery, hand-carved stone, hand-turned wooden bowls, acrylic and oil paintings, photography, jewelry, mixed media and handmade bags and accessories. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Music lovers will enjoy live entertainment by saxophonist Greg Worthington. Hailing from New Orleans, Worthington has performed throughout the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming and Montana for the past four decades. He recently has returned to his roots in Louisiana, bringing to St. Tammany an eclectic mix of jazz, funk and R&B, seasoned with what he calls a “special blend of soulful spice.”
A children’s art workshop also will be offered during the art market. Young artists will create mobiles with mirrors, complementing the “Self/Reflection: Photographs from the New Orleans Museum of Art,” an exhibition organized by NOMA and currently on display in the St. Tammany Art Association’s Art House at 320 N. Columbia St. The workshop fee is $15 and it includes all materials and instruction. Participation is limited, and registration is available by calling STAA at (985) 892-8650.
The Covington Art Market is presented by St. Tammany Art Association in partnership with the City of Covington. This event is supported by a grant from the LA Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, as administered by the St. Tammany Parish. Funding has also been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, Art Works.
