Meet the Covington Police Department

Meet the Covington Police Department

In an effort to introduce our local police officers to the

community and provide an opportunity for the CPD to

highlight their outstanding officers, Covington Weekly

profiles are provided by Chief Tim Lentz of the Covington

Police Department.

Ryan Carruth is a lifelong resident of Covington. After

graduating from St. Paul’s, Ryan enrolled in Tulane

University in New Orleans. He secured a bachelor’s degree

in Homeland Security and Emergency Management in May of

2016. After a yearlong recruitment process, Ryan relented

to my efforts and joined the Covington Police Dept. in June

of 2017.

After his hiring, Ryan attended the Slidell Police Regional

Training Academy where he excelled as a recruit. After his

graduation just before Thanksgiving, he returned to the

Police Department to begin applying the knowledge he

learned in the classroom to the streets of Covington. At

the end of this week, Ryan will have completed his 16 week

Field Training Program and will begin work in a solo

status.

In his time off, Ryan loves to spend time with his family,

hunting and fishing, and training his golden retriever.

The Covington Police Department is open 24/7. All

Emergencies, call 911 for immediate assistance. Non-

Emergencies, call 985-892-8500.
