Quote and Word of the Week

“Perhaps one did not want to be loved so much as to be understood.” –  George Orwell, 1984

The Full Moon is Sunday, April 29, 2018

Word of the Week:
understanding – to comprehend; tolerant, forgiving;  archaic – having insight

April’s Full Moon is called the Pink Moon as it heralds the appearance of the “moss pink”, or wild ground phlox, one of the first spring flowers. The April moon is also known as the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the Fish Moon. These names were used by the early Colonial Americans, who learned them from the Native Americans. Working from more of a lunar cycle of time-keeping, the names often described activity associated with the appearance of the moon in the locale and time of year in question. — The Old Farmer’s Almanac
