Congratulations to New CPD Recruits

Covington Police Chief Tim Lentz recently reported his attendance of the graduation ceremony of the 56th Slidell Regional Police Academy. The Covington Police Department was proud to have four new recruits in the graduation ceremony. Congratulations to new recruits Officer George Crater, Officer Blaine Morgan, Officer Keith Talley and Officer Joe Way.
For the last four months, these officers learned all of the fundamentals surrounding their profession. They will now return to the department and apply the knowledge they learned in the classroom out in the field with a training officer. At the end of four months of field training, they will patrol in solo status.
As tradition goes, our Officers brought home a couple of awards. Officer Crater took first place in Firearms Proficiency and Officer Keith Talley took second place in Academics. A special thanks to Chief Randy Fandal and his staff for providing first class training.

The Covington Police Department recently conducted its “I Got Caught Wearing My Seat Belt” campaign for the fifth year in a row. Through the generosity of 12 local sponsors, the CPD distributed 500 t-shirts to students at the three high schools in town. This campaign is designed to remind young drivers about the importance of buckling up.
