Meet the Covington Fire Department

Meet the Covington Fire Department

Meet the CFD is a new feature to introduce our local fire fighters to the community. Profiles are provided by CFD Information Officer Blake Nunez.

Shane Jenkins, also known as “Catfish”, is a Firefighter/Operator on C-Shift.  After volunteering for five years, he was one of the first CFD full time employees hired in April of 1995.  Shane was born and raised in Covington and enjoys serving our community.  He loves to meet new people when he is out and about on calls.  Shane also does contracting work to supplement his income.  During his off time he enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.

Each year, the CFD answers more than 1,400 emergency calls. CFD firefighters spend many hours on outreach for fire prevention in the community. The CFD conducts fire prevention programs in local schools simulating the conditions of a fire, teaching students how to formulate and execute an emergency exit plan. Visit covla.com.
