(Covington, LA) – It’s the quintessential celebration of the Old South. St. Tammany Art Association’s Seersucker and Sazeracs gala celebrates New Orleans’ signature drink and America’s first cocktail, the sazerac, the breezy striped attire that’s definitively southern, and the toe tapping music of the popular NOLA jitterbugs. The event will take place on Friday, May 18, from 7 to 10 pm at the Southern Hotel in charming downtown Covington.
Fully restored to its 1907 glory, the hotel is known for its exquisite art collection which includes original works by regional artists and rich murals depicting the city. Its support of local arts and artists makes the Southern the perfect location for STAA’s fundraiser which supports local artists, youth and adult arts education and exhibits in its Art House. STAA is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2018.
Guests will enjoy wine, libations and stellar cuisine by some of the area’s finest restaurants and caterers. A silent auction will feature original works of art and gift certificates available for bid.
Seersucker and Sazeracs tickets are $75 in advance and $100 at the door if still available. Tickets are currently on sale Tuesday through Friday, 10 am to 4 pm at the STAA Art House at 320 N. Columbus Street or online at www.StTammanyArtAssociation.org/seersucker. This popular gala is expected to sell out.
