Downtown Block Party Friday

The City of Covington’s Columbia Street Block Party takes place this Friday, July 27, 2018. No Parking on Columbia Street after 5:00 pm, streets are closed at 5:30. Avoid the downtown street closings by going around the area at this time. Public parking is available in the numbered lots (brown signs) affectionately termed ox-lots due to the history of ox-drawn carts prevalent when deliveries arrived at Columbia Street Landing.

The Cars Classic and Modern vehicles line the streets where the combustible engine is celebrated as the single most important invention of our time. Forget about bio-diesel, they deal in High Octane. All the purring engines will get your motor running.
The Music Loud and danceable music emanates from the Seiler Bar Patio while most other venues have indoor tunes to beat the heat. Davy Crockett and the Wild Frontier play Wharton’s Green Room at 9pm, followed by Noelle and the Missing Links at 11pm. Rock It Productions pumps up the Block Party at Columbia Street Rock N Blues Cafe. Retro Music Co. hosts Acoustic Harmony for Block Party.

The Food There are of course many restaurants open for Block Party, ranging from casual family dinner to upscale fine dining. Within a four block radius, you’ll find Aki Japanese Restaurant, The Tap Room, Susan’s on Columbia, Columbia Street Rock n Blues Cafe, St. John’s Coffeehouse, Buster’s Place, Vazquez PoBoy, Del Porto Ristorante, Ox Lot, Pepe’s Mexican Kitchen, Yujin, Rob’s Rockin’ Dogs and Baan Thai!
