The first Covington Garden Club Meeting of the 2018 – 2019 Club Year takes place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Christ Episcopal Parish House. Membership is open to all in the community who are interested.
Garden Club meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month between September and May. Each meeting includes educational presentations on Horticulture and Ornithology, and presentations on floral arranging are frequent.
During the club year, the Garden Club awards the Covington Garden of the Month. The Covington Garden Club participates in community improvement activities including maintenance of the gardens at Triangle Park, adjacent to the Covington Trailhead, and the Healing Garden at Columbia Street Landing. The Garden Club sponsored the Blue Star Memorial Highway Marker located at the intersection of Highway 21 and Highway 36, as well as installation and maintenance of the small garden there.
The Covington Garden Club participates in the St. Tammany Parish Fair, and they host the Annual Flower Show in April. The Garden Club awards a scholarship to deserving Covington High School seniors who show a particular interest in horticulture each year.
