The Three Rivers Art Festival began in 1996, growing from 49 to nearly 200 exhibiting artists. The event is an outdoor juried arts and fine crafts festival that is held annually in Historic Downtown Covington. The festival attracts a sophisticated buying public and a talented group of artists and fine craftsmen, with more than 50,000 visitors annually.
The Covington Three Rivers Art Festival is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that is run by a volunteer board and part-time coordinator, supplemented by more than 100 additional volunteers.
The mission of the Covington Three Rivers Art Festival is to expand and enhance St. Tammany’s reputation as an arts-oriented community and a mecca for artists and art lovers; to serve as an attraction for cultural tourists to St. Tammany; and, to support art education for St. Tammany Parish school children through an annual grant program. The festival is held in downtown Covington, which as a designated Louisiana Cultural District offers attractive tax incentives to artists, buyers and retailers that help spark community revitalization.
