Record-Breaking Season For CES Speech & Debate Team

The Christ Episcopal School Speech and Debate Team continued its record-breaking season by notching a Second Place Second Sweepstakes win for speech events at the National Catholic Forensics League national qualifier March 8 – 10. The qualifier was for the New Orleans and Baton Rouge district and was hosted by St. Augustine High School in New Orleans.
In addition, four of our Speech Team members also qualified to compete at the National Grand tournament in Milwaukee over Memorial Day weekend.
Our National Qualifiers are Becca Preston and Olivia Fried for Duo Acting; Katie Werner for Original Oratory; and Gabrielle Uson for Oratorical Declamation.

District national qualifier tournament medal winners were Becca Preston, first place for Original Oratory; Olivia Fried, first place for Oral Interpretation; Katie Werner, finalist for Original Oratory, Gabrielle Uson, finalist for Oratorical Declamation; Becca Breston and Olivia Fried, finalists for Duo Acting; and Olivia Fried, finalist for Dramatic Performance.
Thirteen of our team members are now preparing for the State Tournament of Champions, which well be held March 28 – 30 at Newman in New Orleans. This was the first season that CES has had this many state tournament qualifiers. Congratulations!
