Bartholomew to Qualify for STP District Judge, Division F

St. Tammany Parish Assistant District Attorney Harold S. Bartholomew, Jr. has announced he will seek election to to the state’s 22nd Judicial District Court for St. Tammany and Washington parishes. He will qualify for the office on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 as a candidate for judge in the October 12th election which includes races for governor, parishwide offices, St. Tammany Parish Council and Legislature seats.
With more than 30 years of active litigation experience in both public service and private practice, Bartholomew’s previous judicial experience includes several appointments as Judge Ad Hoc at First Parish Court, Traffic Hearing Officer and Judge Ad Hoc for Juvenile Court. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University and a law degree from Loyola University.
Bartholomew has served as Assistant District Attorney since 2003, initially working as a gun felonies prosecutor and most recently as Chief of the Misdemeanor Section. A nationally-recognized expert in the field of Elder Abuse, he was appointed to the newly-created position of Supervisor for the Elder Abuse Protection Unit in the District Attorney’s Office shortly before Hurricane Katrina in 2005. 

For his ground-breaking initiatives on behalf of senior citizens, Bartholomew was the recipient of the 2019 Vanguard Award from the Gulf South Elder Abuse Conference. Ralph Oneal, director of the Gulf Coast Elder Abuse Conference, recognized Bartholomew as “the vanguard of those who would make a difference in guarding the interests of our elders.”
Also honored by St. Tammany Parish Seniors and Law Bartholomew is a Past President of the Jefferson Bar Association, Past Chairman of the Jefferson Bar Association – Young Lawyers Section, and has been a frequent legal education presenter at conferences and meetings of the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, Louisiana District Attorney’s Association and the Jefferson Bar Association.
Harold Bartholomew resides in Mandeville with his wife Helen Warren Bartholomew and three of their children.
