Covington Comprehensive Plan 2030 Public Workshops

The City of Covington has contracted with Dana Brown & Associates to update the 2007 Comprehensive Plan. Dana Brown & Associates are a New Orleans based multidisciplinary firm that has extensive experience in Green Design, Landscape Architecture, Storm Water Management, Urban Design, Community Planning, and Land Development Planning. In addition, Meyer Engineers, GCR and Healthy Community Services are a part of the planning team for the project. 

The Comprehensive Plan Project will include an assessment and revisions to the City’s existing 2007 Comprehensive Plan. A comprehensive plan expresses a community’s values and preferences.
It is the foundation for development of decisions, regulations, and policies. It reflects what the community desires for the future.  To ensure that the comprehensive plan articulates the community’s values, it is essential to engage the community.
The following Public Workshops are scheduled:

Saturday, September 7 -Hoops for Kids- Reverend Peter Atkins Park – 701 N. Tyler Street – 9:00 a.m.  to 11:00 a.m.
Saturday, September 7 – Covington Farmers Market- 609 Columbia St. (on the side lawn of the Covington Police Dept.)-  11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 
Topic: Visioning
Friday, September 27 – Columbia Street Block Party (200 to 500 Block) – 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Thursday, October 17- Rockin’ the Rails at the Covington Trailhead – 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

At each Public Workshop, the planning team will be tabling. During the workshop, the project team will learn from residents, business owners, and other stakeholders about issues they experience while living, working and commuting in the City of Covington. Participates will identify opportunities to be evaluated and included in the Comprehensive Plan and their vision for the City of Covington.
