Greetings, friends, and the top of the morning to you! I know it will be frosty tomorrow but take a quick moment to get yourself a fabulous meal. Dip into a tasty chicken wrap from Abeer. And when I say dip, I mean you’ll want hummus or tzatziki to dip that into. YUM-EE! Eggs from Double K; veggies from Mr. Houston, what day! Throw caution to the wind and indulge in that glorious blueberry jam from Jerry —surely, it’s summer?? He also has that blueberry masterpiece with a bit of heat and you can choose how much. Kandy’s shrimp & cream cheese rolls, chicken porridge and fabulous pho — oooh yeah — even Frosty’s looking for comfort.
Jerome will have his amazing tomato tart and Quiche Lorraine and even an apple tart. We also have a brand new vendor — Driskell’s Original BBQ. Some of you were able to taste his tasty barbecue last week. The brisket was delicious but the brisket chili — out of this world! Yes, he will have it this week and he is also preparing smoked Gouda Mac N Cheese. Can’t wait to try that! Ask about his specialty sauces like peach, strawberry, orange…They’ll be talkin’ about your own BBQ for ages.
Good morning, Covington Farmers’ Market! You didn’t think Saturday would ever come, and now it’s here bringing the delightful tunes of the In Laws flowing from the gazebo. The addictive scent of Papa D’s kettle corn will flow through the market, followed by the flavorful veggie pancakes Meme is famous for, and by the ever-popular Happy Flour sourdough pancakes, the crispy F’awlafully Yours falafel, and the awesome breakfast bites at Bear Creek Road. Breakfast is served!
While you’re at Bear Creek Road or Happy Flour, indulge your sweet tooth in a magnificent king cake! Patrick & Madeleine also bake many types of sourdough, rustic breads and sandwich style breads (the cinnamon swirl is particularly delish). Jennifer’s sourdough is wonderful and she also creates several tasty “flatbread” types like focaccia or fougasse. Lovely, delicious breads!
You’ll find gorgeous heirloom carrots on Nick’s table, plus assorted varieties of turnips and sweet potatoes. Tomatoes galore at Tomato’s table plus some hothouse eggplant. Still lots of greens on them thar tables — chard, kale, mustards, collards. Eddie has carrots and radish and also Napa cabbage. Enjoy! You may even find a traditional cabbage or two. Ken still has plenty of oranges, lemons and grapefruit and even some colorful cauliflower. Hopefully, the strawberries will be back. That storm that passed through seemed to have done a number on the crop.
Succotash Ferments offers healthy probiotic delights, such as kombucha in flavors that will knock your socks off. Nancy also has raw krauts so full of digestive enzymes and probiotics and milk kefir (strawberry, mango lasse, and even golden milk)! Don’t forget the tangy, amazing of Brown Hat Dairy’s chèvre or feta cheese. So wonderful in topping some of those greens I mentioned.
