This exhibition presents unique works of eleven artists who have achieved regional, national, or international acclaim, including pieces by George Dunbar, Ida Kohlmeyer, Clarence John Laughlin, Shirley Masinter and Noel Rockmore to name a few.

Architecture in its modern conception could not exist in the absence of the human hand. Architecture and human being serve one another — buildings are conceived, designed, and built to protect us, and we have the ability to manipulate, renovate, and repurpose them. The human eye finds beauty and complexity in the contours of structure—from realism to abstraction—through line, volume, space, and dimension.

However, the exploration of three-dimensional space transcends art and architecture. We place sentimental value on structure and location by imbuing narrative, significance, and history to the façade and interior of a building. Architecture in this exhibition represents the fallen ideals of culture, suggestions of socio – economic strife, nostalgia, and the tragedies that befall manmade landscapes due to neglect and natural disaster. Here, artists have represented cityscapes in a range of styles: recognizably, abstractly, fantastically, and as preservationists. www.sttammanyartassociation.org
