Summer Blast Basketball Tournament is Only One Month Away

Covington’s Community Summer Blast Festival takes place Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Reverend Peter Atkins Park, 701 North Tyler Street. Co-Ed Basketball teams ages 11-17 and 18 and older are encouraged to participate in a day of basketball tournament and fun filled festival in a family atmosphere. Vendor booths are available for a small fee, profits are yours to keep. Vendors may be food, arts & crafts, jewelry, games, informational, etc. Local Police, Fire and Sheriff Department will be on site with tools and resources. Proceeds for the event will benefit children across St. Tammany Parish by providing an opportunity to attend Summer and Holiday Basketball camps, keeping them safe and off the streets. The camps are a result of the community efforts by Scott Cyprian and his wife Tiffany.

Covington Weekly caught up with Jordan Bedford, a Covington Resident who has involved himself in Tiffany and Scott’s Basketball Camps from a young age. After completing an Associate’s Degree at Baton Rouge Community College, Jordan most recently graduated from Belhaven College in Jackson, MS, where he also played basketball. Jordan attended past basketball camps, and he is the special guest at this year’s Summer Blast.

“Tiffany and Scott are amazing people. They are taking kids out of bad environments and giving them hope. Thank you for the opportunity to promote this event, I invite everyone out to support the community by attending this tournament.” – Jordan Bedford

All community leaders are urged to participate in Summer Blast 2016, if interested please call Tiffany at 985-710-5699 or email projectblessingsallyear@gmail.com.
