Live Auction & Appraisals at Antiques Fest

Live Auction & Appraisals at Antiques Fest

A live auction and appraisal station will be among the attractions featured at the Covington Antiques and Uniques Festival on April 22 and 23rd in downtown Covington.
Now in its third year, the two-day event will be a shopper’s delight, as New Hampshire and Theard Streets
will be lined with more than 50 vendor booths filled with an array of antiques and vintage furnishings, home décor, collectibles, fine arts and crafts, food, and live music.  In addition to browsing for bargains, the festival will feature a live auction on Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at the Covington Trailhead, 419 N. New Hampshire Street. Coordinated by Pennie Carr of Auction Louisianne, bargain hunters can enjoy the excitement and challenge of bidding on a variety of authentic antiques and vintage furnishings, collectibles and giftware.  Auction items may be previewed at the Covington Trailhead Museum on April 13 at 6 p.m. during Rockin’ the Rails, a free public concert series held outdoors at the Covington Trailhead.  Admission is free to the preview and auction.

On Sunday, festival-goers are invited to bring their special treasures – glassware, ceramics, jewelry, watches, furniture, dolls, toys, and other collectible curiosities to an appraisal station on the front lawn of the Trailhead from 2-5 p.m. A panel of seasoned professionals, each with more than 20 years of experience in the appraisal business, will be on-hand to identify and evaluate items, answer questions, and give informal, verbal appraisals.

Panel members include: auctioneer Pennie Carr; jewelry designer and gemologist Anne Dale, G.G., P.G. F.G.A.; doll repair specialist Cynthia Orgeron; and antiques appraiser Sherry Kohlert. Tickets are $5 for one valuation and $10 for three valuations.
Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Applications are being accepted for volunteers, and a limited amount of booth space for vendors is available. For more information, email antiques@covla.com or call (985) 867-1202.
