Meet the Covington Fire Department

Chief Gary S. Blocker Jr. started volunteering at the Covington Fire Department at the age of 14. After graduating from high school in 1997 he was hired as a full-time firefighter and began his career in public safety. Still wanting to serve his community, Chief Blocker joined the Covington Police Department in 2000 as a reserve police officer, where he is now a Lieutenant in the reserves.  He worked numerous positions throughout his career at the Covington Fire Department such as Dispatch, Fire Suppression, K-9 Handler, Administration, Chief of Prevention, and now the Fire Chief.

Chief Blocker and his wife, Tammy, have two children. Tammy Blocker is a police officer with the Covington Police Department where she serves as a Lieutenant over the Traffic Division.  He enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoys volunteering in the community.  Chief Blocker and his family usually deliver meals with other volunteers during the holidays.
