This Week at the Farmer’s Market

Glad tidings of great joy, friends! Join us as we celebrate the last market of the year on Saturday. Tommy Timphony will liven the morning with happy tunes from the gazebo. What a wonderful day we will have!

I hope your Christmas was filled with many blessings and lots of goodness. It’s been a fabulous year, friends, and I’m looking forward to another. I personally feel blessed to have the wonderful diversity of foods such as we have at the Covington Farmers’ Market. Perhaps it’s just me, but as long as I have been coming to the market, I have felt that our market is somehow different from others.

Yes, we have lots of great veggies (Oh the broccoli, the lettuce, the kale and choi, the sweet taters and greens…) as other markets must have. Yes, we have gorgeous fruits in their season (right now the oranges, kumquats, strawberries are excellent). Yes, we have raw honey and milk products (both cow and goat) and farm-fresh eggs.

You’ll find places of delight —Jams and jellies. Crunchy delicious pickled veggies. Artisan breads. Falafel. Salsa. Vegan tacos. Veggie pancakes. Kettle corn! Cookies! Muffins! Praahleeens!

You’ll find places of pre-cooked delicious — Scordalia. Hummus. Grape leaves. Chicken & Sausage gumbo. Eggplant Parmesan…

You’ll find places of healing — Naturally Well’s Elderberry Syrup, Succotash Ferments kombucha or raw krauts or kefir, Gabe’s massages, Serenity Lane’s skin care, Amanda’s juices and fruity popsicles, Blood River raw honey…

You’ll find places of growth — Sprouts! Microgreens! Plants for your food garden. Plants for your landscape. Fertilizer for both.

But mostly what you’ll find is welcome. From Ed’s friendly face to the music in the gazebo, you’ll find a place for family to come and enjoy the morning. You’ll find a place to meet old friends and make new ones. You’ll find a place for pets (and even Tiger Bait treats for them). And we are pleased to share it with you. We are blessed to know you and look forward to seeing you in the New Year. Have a safe and fantastic holiday!

Lots of love,
