CPD Announces New Deputy Chief of Police Joseph “Trey” Mahon

The Covington Police Department is excited to announce the promotion of Lieutenant Joseph “Trey” Mahon to Deputy Chief of Police.

Deputy Chief Mahon has devoted his life to public service, starting as a Junior Firefighter with the Covington Fire Department at the age of 13. In 2002, he was hired full time with the fire department and became a Reserve Police Officer with the Covington Police Department. On July 26, 2007, Deputy Chief Mahon was hired full time at the Covington Police Department.

During his time here, he has served as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Street Crimes Officer, Administrative Sergeant, Public Information officer, and most recently, the commander over the Criminal Investigations Division. He is also a member of the Secret Service Task Force.

With Deputy Chief Mahon serving in almost every division within the Covington Police Department, we are confident he will do an outstanding job helping lead the Covington Police Department into the future.
