The City of Covington presents this free, kid-friendly holiday event at the Covington Trailhead this Saturday, December 5th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Featuring Christmas Caroling by the Northlake Performing Arts Society (NPAS) chorale, Christmas craft activities, a visit from Santa Claus and individually wrapped holiday treats. All activities are free and open to the public.

Participants are requested to wear masks and practice social distancing in accordance with the Governors mandate at this time. The trailhead will also have hand sanitizing stations throughout. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy all that Covington has to offer!

Covington Behavioral Health and Northshore Families Helping Families present “Autism Spectrum Disorder Information & Social Session” with speaker Lisa Donze Jacob, LCSW. This free session will cover helpful tips and information on raising a child or young adult on the autism spectrum. Parents/ Caregivers of individuals with autism and adults with autism are invited to attend. Event takes place Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 6 p.m. To 8 p.m. in Covington Behavioral Health, located at 201 Greenbriar Blvd. Refreshments will be provided. The City of Covington is excited to announce Candlelight Caroling at the Covington Trailhead (419 N. New Hampshire Street). This holiday event takes place on December 14, 2017, beginning at 7:00 pm.
After The Crispin Schroeder band dazzles the crowd with favorite holiday tunes, The Northlake Performing Arts Society brings the carols. Jazz vocalist with The LAPA Jamie Planchard performs next, then Maddi Tripp will delight the crowd with “Have Yourself a Merry little Christmas”. The magical night ends with the crowd singing “Silent Night” by candlelight.
Refreshments and Libations will be available for purchase from Beck and Call, The English Tea Room, The Kiwanis and the Covington Business Association. Cookbooks will be for sale from the Junior League of Greater Covington. The public is encouraged to bring their chairs.

The Beautiful Christmas Tree was generously donated by the New Orleans Advocate and The St. Tammany Farmer. The Poinsettias decorating the Covington Trailhead are a gift from Hancock Whitney Bank.

Northlake Performing Arts Society – Movies In Concert This Weekend

NPAS Movies in ConcertGrab your popcorn and a take a seat for an evening of your favorite movie music! NPAS singers will take you back to your most beloved movies with exciting songs from The Lion King, a medley of James Bond and Indiana Jones songs, as well as tunes from Titanic, Evita, Mary Poppins and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Lights, camera, and action!

Performances this weekend only, June 6th and 7th at 7:30 pm at the Fuhrmann Auditorium in the Greater Covington Center. June 8th will be at the Slidell Little Theater, 2:30 pm.

Celebrating The Art Of The Christmas Carol – NPAS Christmas With The Music Of John Rutter

NPAS Christmas Poster 2013The NPAS holiday concert this year features carols arranged by John Rutter. Born in London, Rutter was educated at Highgate School in England. Rutter received his training at Clare College, Cambridge. In 1981, Rutter founded his own choir, the Cambridge Singers, which he conducts and with which he has made many recordings of sacred choral repertoire (including his own works), particularly under his own label, Collegium Records. He resides at Duxford in Cambridgeshire and frequently conducts many choirs and orchestras around the world. This concert will include Rutter’s inspiring arrangements of your favorite carols, including “Joy to the World”, “Deck the Hall”, and “Silent Night”, in addition to Christmas carols you may be less familiar with such as “Dormi Jesu”, “Love Came Down at Christmas”, and the “Candlelight Carol”.

Presented by the Northlake Performing Arts Society (NPAS), the show will take place at the Greater Covington Center in the Fuhrmann Auditorium, 317 N. Jefferson Street, Covington on December 20, 2013 at 7:30 pm.

The Music of Cole Porter & George Gershwin – Northlake Performing Arts Society 2013-14 Season

NPASThe Northlake Performing Arts Society (NPAS) opens their season with the well known music of Cole Porter (1891 – 1964) and George Gershwin (1898 – 1937). Both American composers were classically trained and drawn to the Broadway musical stage. Both are most well known for the works in the 1920s and 1930s. You will hear hits from Cole Porter, including “I Get a Kick Out of You”, “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”, “In the Still of the Night”, and music from his most successful musical, Kiss Me Kate. The Gershwin tunes include music from the musicals Funny Face, Nice Work If You Can Get It, and of course his opera, Porgy and Bess. Performances will be held at the Fuhrmann Auditorium in the Greater Covington Center Friday October 11th at 7:30 pm and Sunday October 13th at 3 pm. Refreshments for both performances will be provided by The English Tea Room.
