Robert Dutruch Closing Reception

Robert Dutruch Closing Reception

The City of Covington’s Gallery at City Hall will close the unique solo exhibition ‘Ferrous’ featuring local artist and printmaker Robert Dutruch with a reception.  Mayor Mike Cooper invites the public to attend on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
‘Ferrous’ features Dutruch’s large scale carbon pigment prints on Hahnemühle Museum Etching paper documents, on display to the public at the City of Covington’s Gallery at City Hall since January.  The ‘Ferrous’ series has been an ongoing project for almost four years.  It is a study of implements, remembrances, tools, relics, and keepsakes containing the element of iron.

Robert Dutruch is an artist and printmaker who now works primarily with 8×10 large-format view cameras and 19th century brass lenses to record his images.  His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and venues. Those include the International Center for Photography and the prestigious Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans, in addition to commercial galleries in New York, Connecticut, Oregon and Vermont.  His wet plate collodion ambrotypes recently graced the cover of View Camera Magazine.  His many awards include the Award of Artistic Merit at the St. Tammany Art Association’s 50th annual National Juried Exhibition. In 2016, he received the Juror’s Choice Award at Art Melt – the largest juried art exhibition in Louisiana – for the second consecutive year. His work was included in the Historic New Orleans Collection’s important exhibition of Seldom Seen Portraits from Private Collections.  He also was honored as featured artist for the New Orleans Art Review for his sensitive and provoking study of the inhabitants of Julia Row.
The exhibition closing reception will be held at The Gallery at City Hall located at Covington City Hall, 317 North Jefferson Avenue, Covington, Louisiana 70433.
