Congratulations are in order to Gary Blocker, who is now Fire Chief for the City of Covington. From the desk of Mayor Cooper:
Team Covington: I am pleased to announce my appointment of Gary S. Blocker Jr. as Fire Chief for the City of Covington. Gary, who has been a member of the Covington Fire Department for over twenty (20) years, replaces Chief Richard Badon who retired in April.
During his tenure with CFD, Gary has progressed in earning promotions in rank with increased duties and responsibilities. He has consistently demonstrated a wide range of fire service and leadership abilities and has built strong relationships with the residents and business owners in our community.
Chief Blocker is uniquely qualified to hold this top appointed position with the City of Covington having earned over forty (40) Fire Service/EMS certifications and local merit/service awards during his career.
Chief Blocker has earned my respect and that of the of the firefighters and staff of the CFD, the members of the City Council, and the entire community.
