Every year, three members of the Covington Police Department are recognized for their outstanding dedication to the department. The three awards are “Officer of the Year”, “Employee of the Year” (Administration), and “Chief’s Award”.
Both “Officer of the Year”, and “Employee of the Year” are voted upon by all the members of the Covington Police Department. The recipient of the “Chief’s Award” is chosen by the Chief of Police for someone who has shown outstanding dedication to the department. The recipients are kept a secret until the night of the Annual Police and Fire Holiday Party, which was held Saturday, January 19, 2019.
We are happy to announce Nicholas “Nick” Greaver was voted as the “2018 Officer of the Year.”
Officer Greaver is a United States Coast Guard Academy Graduate, who is originally from Maryland, and relocated to the New Orleans area during his tour of duty for the US Coast Guard. Officer Greaver started with the CPD in 2016, and has already proven to be a young leader in our agency! Since being an Officer with the CPD, Officer Greaver was tasked with being a Field Training Officer (FTO), where he trains newly hired recruits, who have recently completed the Louisiana P.O.S.T. We are also happy to announce Tammy Bushnell was voted as the “2018 Employee of the Year.”

Tammy is one our most dedicated employees, who has stepped up in helping in many different functions such as the Annual Toy Giveaway Program, the Summer Kids Camp, and also frequently filled in for dispatching when one was needed! Tammy is a tremendous asset to our agencies success, and we are extremely proud that she was again recognized by her co-workers as the 2018 Employee of the Year!
Lastly, we would also like to announce Sergeant Kevin Collins as the recipient of the “2018 Chief’s Award.”
