Covington Public Works Wins Big

On Thursday, February 22, the American Public Works Association (APWA) held a competition for Public Works Departments across the state. The competition entailed four events where contestants had to perform remarkable feats with large equipment while being timed. At the end of the competition, first and second place awards were given out for each individual event.
The City of Covington entered three contestants to represent our Public Works Department. They were Glenn Vinson, Tim Naquin and Jimmy Kohn. All three of them represented the city well. Mayor Cooper was on hand to present the awards. Tim won a first place award on mini-excavator, and Jimmy won two second place awards – one on mini-excavator and one on bobcat. At the end of the award ceremony, the APWA gave out a runner-up award and a first place award called “King of the Hill” for the overall winners across all events. These two contestants will represent the State of Louisiana in a national competition in Seattle, Washington in September. We are thrilled to announce that the City of Covington’s own Jimmy Kohn won 1st Place overall and was crowned King of the Hill. We are so proud of Jimmy and know he will bring home a win for Louisiana in September!
Congratulations Jimmy, Tim, Glenn and all of the Public Works Department! You made the spotlight, and you are appreciated every day! Covla.com
