Mandeville, LA (Aug. 6, 2019) – Mandeville native Richard Nelson qualified to run as a Republican for the District 89 seat of the Louisiana House of Representatives. Nelson is Vice President and an engineer at PMOLink, based on the Mandeville Lakefront, as well as an attorney, former State Department officer, and diplomat. District 89, representing areas of Mandeville, Madisonville, and Covington, is one of the most contested races in the October 12 election. The seat is open as the current State Representative Reid Falconer is running for the State Senate.
“This is a great opportunity to improve our state, and I am honored to take part in it,” Nelson said. “I’ve knocked on the doors of thousands of voters, and I can tell you, people are excited about a fresh face with new ideas for Louisiana’s future.”
While submitting his qualification, Nelson was accompanied by his wife Ashley and three sons: Michael, 5, Arthur, 3, and Jack, 1. Nelson was a valedictorian of Mandeville High School and holds degrees in Biological Engineering and Law from LSU. He also served for seven years in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State where he was responsible for protecting embassies all over the world from terrorism and espionage.
