Live Music For Friday Block Party

The City of Covington and the Covington Business Association host another block party this Friday, May 28, 2021. Stroll down Columbia Street and see the cars on display, stop in your favorite spot for food and drinks. Here is a bit of the live music that will be happening for Block Party:

Jon-Marc Kilpatrick and Josh Foreman perform at Columbia Street Rock and Blues from 6 to 9 p.m.

Retro Music Company (424 N. Columbia) presents the Pontchartrain Shakers during Block Party. Featuring vinyl records, comics and video games, visit Retro Music Company in Downtown Covington!

The Northshore Traditional Music Society invites any and all interested musicians to participate in an acoustic jam on Friday, May 28, from 6:00-8:00 in conjunction with the Columbia Street Block Party in downtown Covington, LA. We will be located under the white Gazebo at the south end of Columbia St. near the Masonic Lodge and Old Landing park. The jam will be hosted by the Farmer’s Market String Band.
Some chairs will be provided by NTMS. However, to be certain you have a place to sit, it is recommended that you bring a chair of your own.

A limited number of Northshore Traditional Music Society hats and t-shirts will be available to purchase for $20. All proceeds from these sales are used to fund local music events.

Block Parties Are Back!

Columbia Street Block Parties are back! The Covington Business Association and the City of Covington announce a return of this popular event with two block parties in May: Friday, May 7th and Friday, May 28th. Stroll down Columbia Street and look at the cars, stop in to your favorite spot to grab a bite to eat and drink, then stroll some more. The block party begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.

City of Covington Announces Two Block Parties For May

The City of Covington announced that block parties are back, and double the party! The Covington Business Association will host two block parties for the month of May – Friday, May 7th and Friday, May 28th. Get your car out of the garage and get your loafers on for some Columbia Street strolling.

The Columbia Street Block Party takes place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in historic downtown Covington. For more information about this public event call the City of Covington at 985-892-1873 or visit online at covla.com

The Columbia Street Block Party takes place this Friday from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.  Classic cars line the streets and music fills the air.  Stop in to any one of your favorite spots on Columbia for drink specials, food and entertainment.  Hop over to the corner of Boston and Columbia for some coffee and open mic at St. John’s Coffeehouse, featuring Cassie Krebs as this week’s host.  Street Parade perform Wharton’s Green Room for Block Party.  covla.com

STAA Block Party Arts Market:  Stroll through the Arts Market located at Haik Park on Columbia Street, across from H.J. A City of Covington Comprehensive Plan Update Public Workshop will take place at the Columbia Street Block party this Friday from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.  The topic for this Public Workshop is Visioning.  

Representatives will be canvassing between the 200 and 500 blocks of Columbia Street.  Please join the City in creating a vision for the future of Covington.  Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. 

Covington Plan 2030 is a guide for decision-making about growth and development in Covington.  The Plan will outline goals, objectives, and projections of the City’s needs through 2030.  covingtonplan2030.com

Columbia Street Block Party Friday Evening

Downtown Covington’s popular Columbia Street Block Parties, held 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. On the last Friday of the month from March through October, kicks off the 2019 season this Friday, March 29. Classic and vintage car enthusiasts relish in the display of five city blocks of collectibles, the “pride and joy” of Block Party event participants. In addition, downtown restaurants and shopping provide an element of appeal, while live music can be found in many of the neighboring entertainment venues.
The City of Covington welcomes classic cars to line the street for visitors to peruse and enjoy. “It’s always a fun end of the week activity that the whole community enjoys,” says Zac Cuny, Cultural Arts & Events Coordinator for Covington. Downtown Block Party Friday

The City of Covington’s Columbia Street Block Party takes place this Friday, July 27, 2018. No Parking on Columbia Street after 5:00 pm, streets are closed at 5:30. Avoid the downtown street closings by going around the area at this time. Public parking is available in the numbered lots (brown signs) affectionately termed ox-lots due to the history of ox-drawn carts prevalent when deliveries arrived at Columbia Street Landing.

The Cars Classic and Modern vehicles line the streets where the combustible engine is celebrated as the single most important invention of our time. Forget about bio-diesel, they deal in High Octane. All the purring engines will get your motor running.
The Music Loud and danceable music emanates from the Seiler Bar Patio while most other venues have indoor tunes to beat the heat. Davy Crockett and the Wild Frontier play Wharton’s Green Room at 9pm, followed by Noelle and the Missing Links at 11pm. Rock It Productions pumps up the Block Party at Columbia Street Rock N Blues Cafe. Retro Music Co. hosts Acoustic Harmony for Block Party.

The Food There are of course many restaurants open for Block Party, ranging from casual family dinner to upscale fine dining. Within a four block radius, you’ll find Aki Japanese Restaurant, The Tap Room, Susan’s on Columbia, Columbia Street Rock n Blues Cafe, St. John’s Coffeehouse, Buster’s Place, Vazquez PoBoy, Del Porto Ristorante, Ox Lot, Pepe’s Mexican Kitchen, Yujin, Rob’s Rockin’ Dogs and Baan Thai!

Final Friday June Block Party

The June 2018 Columbia Street Block Party takes place this Friday in Historic Downtown Covington along Columbia Street.
Take a stroll and see classic and contemporary cars lined up along Columbia Street. Dinner options range from family-friendly and casual to fine dining. Nightlife includes live music and entertainment during and after the block party.
Wharton’s Green Room welcomes Sugarbomb to their stage during the June Block Party. After the Block Party, get ready for Galacticats featuring DJ Abear of Party Animals. Wharton’s Green Room is located at 521 Boston St.
Columbia Street Rock N Blues Cafe hosts Rock It Productions for Block Party featuring DJ Noizebox – MC Khemical and DJ Hollywood.
After hours it’s DJ Killahouse on the back patio. Rock N Blues Cafe is located at 407 N. Columbia St.
Susan’s Culture House Market and Deli on Columbia will feature live music by T.A.G. Susan’s Culture House Market and Deli is located at 411 N. Columbia St.
Retro Music Company on Columbia Street features the music of Todd Lemoine during the block party. Retro Music Co. is located at 424 N. Columbia St.

Local supergroup Cheeseburger Ranchers play Pepe’s Mexican Kitchen for Block Party this Friday. The back patio will be rockin’ to the sounds of the Ranchers while burgers float through the air with the greatest of ease.

Burgers will be on the brain but Mexican is on the menu. Pepe’s offers authentic and fresh mexican food with a tequila bar. Craft cocktails and specialty margaritas are on order for the evening, plus a selection of draft beers from south of the border. Rockin’ the Rails & Final Friday Block Party

After a very busy month in downtown Covington, it is time once again for the Final Friday Block Party.  Stroll down Columbia Street to see Classic and Contemporary Cars and Trucks while you enjoy music, food and drinks along the way.  Stay downtown for dinner, or catch one of the live music acts at Columbia Street Rock N Blues Cafe (Cowboy Mouth will be there Friday!), The Green Room, now undergoing some exciting changes and renovations (presenting New Orleans Rhythm & Blues Co. Friday night during block party, then Street Parade later).


Last Rockin’ the Rails of the Season  The final Rockin’ the Rails at the Covington Trailhead for April 2017 takes place Thursday featuring Deacon John and the Ivories.  Enjoy this free concert brought to you by the City of Covington.  Food and beverages available for purchase.

Block Party kicks off again this Friday, July 31st from 6:30 – 9:30 pm in downtown Covington! The St. John’s Historic District features many fantastic restaurants, watering holes and great shopping at local retail stores. The cars line Columbia and Boston Streets and music fills the air as downtown comes alive on the last Friday of the month through October. Streets are closed to vehicle traffic and open for pedestrians along Boston Street between Florida and N. New Hampshire streets in addition to the traditional six blocks of Columbia Street.

Block Party is Back On Track – Next Friday In Downtown Covington

Friday Night Block PartyThe City of Covington will kick off its Columbia Street Block Party 2015 Season on Friday, March 27, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., along Columbia and Boston streets in downtown Covington. The celebration will continue every last Friday of each month through October.

“I think everyone is excited to get out the house after the holidays are through and walk around outside, listen to the live music at the restaurants on Columbia and check out the classic cars;” says Cody Ludwig, Cultural Arts & Events Coordinator for Covington. “It’s always a fun end of the week activity that the whole community enjoys.”

The City will continue to close Boston Street between Florida and N. New Hampshire streets in addition to the traditional six blocks of Columbia Street. The City of Covington welcomes classic cars to line the street for visitors to peruse and enjoy.
