Life Somatics For Chronic Pain, Improved Posture and Performance

Published by:

What is Somatics? Hanna Somatics is a method of pain relief that uses slow conscious movements to help regain awareness, sensation and motor control of muscles. Hanna Somatic Education (also known as Hanna Somatics) is a rapidly effective form of neuromuscular (mind-body training) movement re-education that goes directly to the root cause of most chronic muscular pain: the brain and the way in which it senses and organizes the muscles and movement. By learning to regain both awareness, sensation, and motor control of muscles – an educational process that can only be achieved through movement – the brain can remember how to relax and move the muscles properly. This process of sensory motor training creates improved muscle function and enhanced sensory awareness. Hanna Somatic Education is a safe, gentle and common sense approach to reverse chronic pain. It is the only method of pain relief and sensory motor training that targets the condition of Sensory Motor Amnesia (SMA).

Eldoa an Essential Tool in Corrective Exercise and Performance

Published by:

ELDOA is the only form of exercise that works to create space in specific vertebral junctions in the spine. The ELDOA exercises primarily work on the strength of the postural system and stretching of the fascial chains. As you work on strengthening the smaller intrinsic muscles surrounding the spine, you work on stretching some of the bigger and commonly tighter muscles such as the lats, hamstrings and muscles of the hips.

nat move sol graphic-page-001The BIG goal of the ELDOA is to create space for the disc, the nerve root and the joint segment itself, including the facet joints which are often arthritic. The exercises are very complex, meaning that they take much practice to perform properly. There is nothing easy about doing any ELDOA. But the results are amazing!

natural movement solutions graphicIf I can increase my postural awareness and strength while decreasing my pain, I’m all in. The awareness of your body will increase dramatically from taking the classes. I teach a lot of awareness during the warm up and throughout the entire class. As you continue to practice the ELDOA, the quality of your exercise will increase and you will have a greater affect at each particular joint region.

A better quality means that you can work more specifically at a particular joint segment, which equals a better result. 1 class each week will increase your performance in all aspects of your training, including range of motion, space for the joints, body awareness, postural strength etc. Whether you do martial arts, run, bike, lift weights or do lots of metabolic training, ELDOA is a big bang for your buck as far as a “regenerative” form of exercise goes.

“You are your own best therapist.” – Guy Voyer, D.O.

An Introduction to the ELDOA Method

Published by:

by Justin Brien, Natural Movement Solutions (located 1103 Village Walk)

What is ELDOA? ELDOA is a method of exercise that decoapts (creates space in) specific vertebral levels of the spine. Every intervertebral junction in your spine has a disc. The disc is like a spongy cushion that allows some compression. It is somewhat like a shock absorber that dissipates loads through the spine and body. The disc also protects the joint and nerve roots. Sometimes when we have too much compression we can slightly bulge or herniate a disc and compress the nerve. In these cases I have found that the ELDOA is the most effective for myself and for my clients. On MRI, most of us show some mild form of compression, bulging or degenerative signs. But how many of us have effective exercises in our exercise regiment to combat this?  The ELDOA was originally designed to correct scoliosis. Well, we all have a slight scoliosis! Everyone! We are always imbalanced and thanks to gravity, we are always compressing different segments in our backs and necks. ELDOA is the only method of exercise that I have found to work on flexibility, strengthening the spine and decompressing specific functional spinal units (vertebra, discs and nerve roots).

The Jedi Doth Return to Playmakers for One Weekend Only!

Published by:

Playmakers, Inc. Community Theater and Dark Side: Forsooth Productions present Shakespeare’s Star Wars: The Jedi Doth Return. The saga of a galaxy far, far away concludes on July 31 & August 1 at 8:00 PM.

jabbahuttWilliam Shakespeare’s The Jedi Doth Return, a non-canon book by Ian Doescher, is a retelling of “Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi” as if it had been penned by William Shakespeare. The epic trilogy that began last September with “Verily, A New Hope” and continued this January with “The Empire Striketh Back” concludes for TWO SHOWS ONLY with your rag-tag cast of ne’er-do-wells in a staged reading (plus a few props and costumes, and some sound effects, because who doesn’t love the sound of a light saber fight?).

Prithee, attend the tale so far: Han Solo entombed in carbonite, the princess taken captive, the Rebel Alliance besieged, and Jabba the Hutt engorged. Alack! Now Luke Skywalker and his Rebel band must seek fresh allies in their quest to thwart construction of a new Imperial Death Star.

But whom can they trust to fight by their side in the great battle to come? Cry “Ewok” and let slip the dogs of war! Frozen heroes! Cute furry creatures!Family secrets! And a light saber duel to decide the fate of the Empire. In troth, William Shakespeare’s The Jedi Doth Return has it all!
