Meet the Covington Police Department

In an effort to introduce our local police officers to the community and provide an opportunity for the CPD to highlight their outstanding officers, Covington Weekly profiles are provided by Chief Tim Lentz of the Covington Police Department.

stephen-culotta-1Lieutenant Stephen Culotta started his law enforcement career with the Police Department 19 years ago as a Reserve volunteering his time to the Police Department.   At the young age of 21, he began his fulltime career with the department.  His first assignment was as a patrol officer.  After a couple of years as a patrol officer, Lt. Culotta was transferred to the Narcotics Division specialized in the handling of a narcotics detection K-9.    As he proceeded in his career, Lt. Culotta also spent time in the detective division, street crimes division, SWAT Team and bicycle division.   In September of 2014, Stephen was promoted to the rank of Lt., overseeing the day to day operations of one of our patrol shifts.  He has numerous hours of specialized training in everything from search warrants, interview and interrogation, cyber crimes, social media crimes, just to mention a few.   Lt. Culotta was just appointed to the FBI JCARD (Joint Child Abduction Rapid Deployment) team.  He is one of a handful of officer across the south that has received specialized training.  Should a child abduction occur, Lieutenant Culotta would respond to assist the reporting agency.              Find CPD on FB.
