The Covington Art Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday at the Covington Trailhead in downtown Covington, featuring a variety of work from local and regional artists, including jewelry, crafts, photography, paintings, woodworking, fiber art and more. This month’s market will also feature live music by Timothy Gates and food will be provided by Beck-N-Call Café.
The Covington Art Market schedule has been changed to be more suitable for artist and shoppers. The Market, which was originally every other first Saturday of the month, will now follow a Spring and Fall season. Art Markets will be held the first Saturday of November (2nd) and December (7th), break, and then return for March, April and May 2014.
The purpose of the market is to give exposure to the many talented artists and craftsmen in Southeast Louisiana. Art market patrons are also encouraged to visit the Saturday Farmers Market, which takes place from 8 a.m. to noon on the grounds of nearby Covington Police Department, 600 N. Columbia Street — walking distance of the Covington Trailhead. This Saturday’s market will feature live music by the Pot Luck String Band and a food demo of shrimp remoulade by Robin’s Rockin’ Cajun Pepper Jellies. Mrs. Amy Gates will also be having a signing of her recently released book “Pierre and the Petite Guardian Gator” at the Farmers Market.
The Covington Art Market is presented by the St. Tammany Art Association in partnership with the City of Covington.
