Strengthening Outcomes with Autism Resources (SOAR) will host their Fourth Annual Autism Awareness Walk & Family Fun Day this Saturday, April 5th from 10 am – 2 pm on the St. Tammany Trace, starting at the Kids Konnection Playground, 21490 Koop Drive in Mandeville. This event will feature wooden carnival style games, characters from Star Wars, face painting, bubbles, Louisiana Ghostbusters, a photo booth, Par Tee Golf, an obstacle course and more! Music will be provided by RockIt Productions, and plenty of food will be available from local restaurants. There will also be a silent auction and raffle.
This is SOAR’s major fundraiser for the year. Currently 1 in 68 children are diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Therefore, SOAR’s goal is to open a center on the Northshore providing services to families, individuals, professionals and communities impacted by ASD.
