In an effort to introduce our local police officers to the community and provide an opportunity for the CPD to highlight their outstanding officers, Covington Weekly profiles are provided by Chief Tim Lentz of the Covington Police Department.
Katy Goleman grew up in Slidell, graduating from Slidell High School in 2005. In her teen years, she worked with her family’s business, Habanos of Slidell Wine Cellar, then moved on to Sales Lead at Best Buy and Server at Voodoo BBQ. Katy gained a leadership position at Voodoo BBQ training new employees. After high school, she attended SLU to study business management, but Katy also comes from a long line of career law enforcement officials.
Her father, Rodney Hart, is currently the 911 Director for St. Tammany Parish. Her uncle, Earsley Hart, retired from the Sheriff’s Office, and she also has cousins that are in law enforcement. Katy decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a police officer, applying to the Covington Police Department in December 2014.
She was hired shortly thereafter, successfully completing her POST training along with her FTO. Katy now performs as a solo officer patrolling the streets of Covington. In her off time, she enjoys spending time with her children and husband, who is also a police officer with the Slidell Police Department.
