In an effort to introduce our local police officers to the community and provide an opportunity for the CPD to highlight their outstanding officers, Covington Weekly profiles are provided by Chief Tim Lentz of the Covington Police Department.
Lt. Robert Blount has been employed with the Covington Police Department for the past 16 years. He is a second generation Covington Police Officer following in his father’s footsteps, who was a longtime employee of the Department. Lt. Blount started his career as a patrol officer, working his way up the ranks to Sergeant in 2006. Shortly after his promotion to Sergeant, he was transferred to the Detective Division as a Detective Sergeant. In 2014, I promoted Robert to the rank of Lieutenant. He now oversees the day to day operation of our detective division. Robert is married to his wife Nicole of 18 years. After his sister passed away from cancer, he took on the guardianship of her two kids, age 15 and 16. In his off time, Robert likes to vacation in central Florida, and spending time with his family.
