In an effort to introduce our local police officers to the community and provide an opportunity for the CPD to highlight their outstanding officers, Covington Weekly profiles are provided by Chief Tim Lentz of the Covington Police Department.
Tammy started her law enforcement career 19 years ago with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. After ten years at the Sheriff’s Office, she decided to apply at her home town agency. Tammy grew up in Covington and is a graduate of Covington High.
Nine years ago, she started her employment with the Covington Police Department as a dispatcher. In her current role as Clerk of the Court, Tammy is responsible for managing the court docket for City Court, which includes all of the traffic citations and the misdemeanor charges. She also collects all of the fines associated with the traffic tickets and criminal charges.
Additionally, Tammy will fill in as a dispatcher when one of our regular dispatchers is sick or on vacation, as was the case this past weekend. As a result, and because of her dedication, Tammy will work twelve days straight.
Tammy is instrumental in organizing our annual kids camp along with the Christmas Caroline Darby Memorial Toy Give Away. She is also an active member of our Fraternal Order of Police organization. On days off, she enjoys spending time with her kids, riding four wheelers and camping.
The Covington Police Dept. is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For emergencies call 911. All other calls dial 985-892-8500
