This Week in Historic Downtown Covington

Covington Farmer’s Market:  The Farmer’s Market takes place Wednesdays at the Covington Trailhead (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) and Saturdays at the 600 Block of Columbia Street (8 a.m. – Noon).

Rockin’ the Rails:  The City of Covington presents Luther Kent (of Trick Bag fame) for Thursday’s Rockin’ the Rails concert.   Rockin’ the Rails is a free concert series brought to you by the City and generous sponsors, taking place in the glorious months of October and April.  Beverages and food are available at the concert at reasonable prices, and the show begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m.

Sunset at the Landing:  This month’s free concert features Amedee Frederick and Big Daddy-O, plus Matt Lemmler’s New Orleans Jazz Revival Show, “Fire & Water”.  Brought to you by the City of Covington, The Covington Farmer’s Market and Heritage Bank of St. Tammany.  The Landing is located at the end of Columbia St. at the Bogue Falaya River.  Friday, April 21, 6 – 9 p.m.

Quack A Falaya Meets Roux Ga Roux:  The Covington Rotary Club and Bogue Falaya Fitness team up to bring you the Roux Ga Roux Warrior Race (race begins at 7:30 a.m.) and the Quack A Falaya Rubber Duck Race (race begins at 11:30 a.m. and ends at The Chimes) for a day of family, community, health, recreation and clean water on the Northshore.  Saturday, April 22.

Covington Antiques & Uniques Festival:  Centering around the Covington Trailhead, this festival features antiques, vintage collectibles and crafts, architectural salvage, a live auction, appraisals, historic walking tours, demos, food, music and more!  Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Adventures With Virga:  The St. Tammany Art Association presents an exploration of Inga Clough Fullerman’s exhibit “I should have named her Virga” through yoga, creative movement and storytelling.  For children and their grown ups, ages 4 and up.   Saturday, April 22nd from 11 a.m. – noon at the Art Association, reservations necessary.

Spring Garden Fest:  brought to you by Louisiana and St. Tammany Master Gardener & the LSU Ag Center, in partnership with St. Tammany Library.   Featuring topics of vegetable gardening and  flowers to attract butterflies and hummingbirds.  Covington branch, Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Cooking Demo by Del Porto Ristorante.  See the back for event flyers and nightlife in downtown.

Celebrate Earth Day this Saturday with Keep Covington Beautiful at Paper Shredding Day!  The event takes place in the parking lot behind City Hall (new location!) from 9 a.m. to noon.
Experience secure document shredding at no charge for up to three boxes of paper documents per person.  Acceptable materials include office paper, sticky notes, index cards, carbon/ncr paper and computer binders.  No need to remove staples, paper clips, clasps or rubber bands.       985-867-3652
