“With the start of the school year right around the corner, the Covington Police Department would like to remind drivers in Covington of a couple important laws to keep our students safe!
We would first like to remind drivers that the school zone hours are 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Second, we would like to remind drivers that there is a Louisiana Revised Statute 32:300.8, Use of wireless telecommunication devices in school zones. This law prohibits drivers to use their wireless devices while traveling in a school zone.
Our main goal is to protect the citizens of Covington and especially our youth. The Covington Police Department Officers will be in the school zones enforcing violations observed and we hope that all drivers obey the school zone laws.” Covington Police Department 985-892-8500
