“Supermoon” Sunday, June 23rd

MoonThis month’s full moon is a “Supermoon,” a term recently borrowed from astrology into astronomy.  This phenomenon describes the closest approach the Moon makes to the Earth on its elliptical orbit.  The astronomical term is the perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system.
