The North Shore Community Foundation, State Representative John Schroder, the City of Covington and Chevron representatives present the second Hoops for Kids Basketball Tournament. The event will kick off with a patron party and silent auction on Saturday, August 9, with the main basketball tournament set for Saturday, August 16th. Boys and girls in junior high and high school are invited to participate in the 3-on-3 competition. Proceeds from the events will go toward building a cover for the courts at Rev. Peter S. Atkins Park. The first Hoops for Kids Basketball Tournament was held in 2011.
North Shore Community Foundation President and CEO Susan Bonnett says, “The second annual Hoops for Kids silent auction and tournament is all about getting our community’s children engaged in fun, physical activity while making the Northshore Community stronger.”
This year’s patron party and silent auction will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, at the Columbia Street Tap Room at 434 North Columbia Street in Covington. Tickets are $50 per person. The 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be Saturday, August 16, at Rev. Peter S. Atkins Park at the intersection of 28th Avenue and Tyler Street in Covington.
