Keep Covington Beautiful will participate in this year’s Leaders Against Litter event, organized by Keep Louisiana Beautiful and Volunteer Lousiana, to be held March 18, 2016.  You can also participate by helping out with a brief morning clean up in your own neighborhood. Support Leaders Against Litter with three tenets:
Speak Up:  spread the word that litter is not acceptable.
Pick Up:  When you see trash, pick it up and dispose.
Stand Up:  Lead the way for a litter-free Covington!
Keep Louisiana Beautiful, along with 39 affiliates across the state and a workforce of over 20,000 volunteers, is dedicated to a litter-free and more beautiful Louisiana.

Brooks’ Bike Shop Announces Seasonal Bike Donation Drive

Brooks’ Bike Shop teamed up with Gulf Coast Bank for this year’s Bike Donation Drive.  Their goal is to collect thirty bikes to give to families who can use a little help this season.  Gulf Coast Bank has committed to providing a helmet for every bike donated!
Brooks’ Bike Shop is looking for any unwanted bikes from toddler size to young adult.  If you have an old bike collecting dust in a garage, back yard or attic, drop them off at the shop and lets give them a second chance.  Please feel free to contact Patrick Brooks (owner, Brooks’ Bike Shop) with any questions at 985-237-3658.

2015 Fall for Art is presented by the St. Tammany Art Association (STAA), Gulf Coast Bank, Champagne Beverages and Fat Tire along with the sponsorship and support of local businesses, galleries and restaurants. New work by dozens of artists from around the Southeast Region are showcased. The free event includes live music at various outdoor and indoor locations, gallery openings, art demonstrations, first-rate boutique shopping, and fine dining throughout Downtown Covington.

Be sure to keep a printed brochure on hand, available at any participating venue! Programs with locations and contact information for each participating shop are available at STAA and at your favorite locations around Covington.

Fall for Art 2014 Hits Downtown Covington Saturday – Art, Music, Performance & More

Fall for Art 2014 - STAASaturday, October 18 at 6 pm – 9 pm: Downtown Covington comes to life! Presented by the St. Tammany Art Association (STAA), along with the sponsorship and support of local businesses, galleries and restaurants: The Spring for Art and Fall for Art annual events draw some 4,000 visitors to the historic St. John district each season. New work by dozens of artists from around the Southeast Region are showcased. The free event includes live music at various outdoor and indoor locations, gallery openings, art demonstrations, outdoor movie screening, first-rate boutique shopping, and fine dining throughout Downtown Covington.

Visitors enjoy live performances by local and nationally-renowned musicians, all over the downtown area. Covington’s many restaurants will be open for business. The festivities are extensive, and to make sure that the crowds move from one end of the map to another, the City of Covington is providing a tram to make traveling easier. Be sure to keep a printed brochure on hand, available at any participating venue! Programs with locations and contact information for each participating shop are available at STAA and at your favorite locations around Covington.

Gearing Up For “A Taste Of Covington” 2nd Annual Event, April 4th – 7th

The Covington Business Association presents “A Taste of Covington,” a four-day food and wine experience in historic downtown Covington, April 4th through 7th, 2013. Top sponsor is the Southern Hotel, co-sponsored by the Gulf Coast Bank, Glazer’s Domaines & Estates and Acquistapace’s Covington Supermarket. The event features a Vintner’s Dinner, cooking demonstrations, the STAA’s Art Market, a Gallery & Merchant Stroll, and a Jazz Brunch to wrap up the exciting weekend.

We begin with the Vintner’s Dinners on Thursday April 4th.  Participants include Annadele’s Plantation, Dakota Restaurant, Del Porto Ristorante, Gallagher’s Grill, Lola Restaurant, Mac’s on Boston, Seiler Bar and Toad Hollow.  For $75, the Vinter’s Dinner includes a four course gourmet meal with wine pairings.  Many of the Thursday dinners are already sold out; you can check www.atasteofcovington.com for availability and menu offerings.

The “Grand Tasting” will be Friday the 5th from 7 pm to 10 pm.  This event is sponsored by Gulf Coast Bank and will take place in the wine warehouse at Acquistapace’s Covington Supermarket.  This event has been highly anticipated, and is already sold out.

Saturday the 6th offers day-long events starting with the STAA’s Art Market at the Trailhead from 9 am to 4 pm, presented by the St. Tammany Art Association.  From 5 pm to 6:30 pm, the Covington Trailhead hosts “Chef’s Cooking Demos and Wine Tastings”.  Tickets are $20 per person and are still available at the time of writing.  Call the Trailhead Office for information, 985-892-1873.  The CBA Merchant Stroll ground out the evening from 7 pm to 10 pm.  Twenty businesses in downtown Covington will serve different wine selections hosted by Glazer’s Domaines and Estates, and the stroll is free and open to the public.  There will be live music by local bands Bayou Blue, Christian Serpas, Steppin’ Up, Amp’d Brass Band and Montage. The 2013 Taste of Covington experience finishes with a Jazz Brunch on Sunday the 7th from 11 am to 2 pm.  This event is presented by the Seiler Bar, and tickets are $30 per person.  Champagnes will be provided by Gerard Bertrand and the brunch will feature entertainment by Amp’D Brass Band.  Please call 985-898-0353 for reservations, which are still available at the time of writing.

Gulf Coast Bank operates its branch locations in 5 parishes in South East Louisiana; Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany, St. Bernard and East Baton Rouge.  Any nonprofit or charity located in one of these five parishes is welcome to register to participate in Community Rewards. Registration continues throughout the program, with all voting ending at 5 pm on Monday, March 4th.
Community Rewards is one of three major fundraising events held by Gulf Coast Bank & Trust throughout the year, resulting in over $200,000 reinvested in our community each year.

“Auctions in August” is Gulf Coast Bank & Trust’s silent auction event hosted at all 16 branches. The items available for bidding were donated by businesses, organizations and individuals.  They are now available for auction to benefit specific charities, schools and other non-profit groups. The auction is open to everyone, and each branch houses several unique items for bid, encouraging people to visit multiple branches for a complete auction experience.

“Auctions in August” is Gulf Coast Bank & Trust’s silent auction event hosted at all 16 branches. The items available for bidding are donated by various organizations and individuals to be auctioned for specific charities, schools or other non-profit groups. The auction is open to everyone, and each branch houses several unique items for bid, encouraging people to visit multiple branches for a complete auction experience.

Last year the bid list featured more than 1,000 items, raising approximately $186,000 for more than 300 charities and schools. Bid items included gift certificates, household items, week-long beach vacations and even a Corvette.
