It’s Mother’s Day Weekend in Downtown Covington, and there is always plenty to see and do. Rent a couple of bikes and ride around town, or take a scenic tour down the Tammany Trace, one of fifty rails-to-trails conversions across the country! The Columbia Street Landing is always a nice place to sit and gather your thoughts, and the seating area now has a covered canopy for shade on the warmer days. The LPO’s Annual Swing in the Pines takes place this Saturday in the Bogue Falaya Park (see the flyer on back), bring a blanket and picnic.
There are plenty of great places to eat, with favorites like Coffee Rani, The English Tea Room & Eatery, New Orleans Food and Spirits, and while your in that part of town, mom can check out the antique shops on Lee Lane. Further down you’ll find Vazquez Poboy and Buster’s Place, plus upscale picks Del Potro Ristorante and Ox Lot. Toad Hollow is right around the corner, and so is Mac’s on Boston, Yujin and Baan Thai.
After dinner, Columbia Street Rock N Blues Cafe, The Green Room, Columbia Street Tap Room and The Seiler Bar all offer drinks, entertainment and live music. The Second Saturday Art Walk is also a great time with mom. Take your momma out for Mother’s Day!
